The perfect beginners workshop!
Service Description
Bookings for next round open Monday 1st June 2026 This is a 2 hour workshop, once a week for 5 weeks where you'll learn how to use hand tools & power tools confidently & safely. We'll cover a range of skills; - How to accurately measure and mark timber. - How to use a hammer for nailing and chiseling techniques. - How to safely operate a hand saw, skill saw, jigsaw & drop saw doing both square & mitre cuts. - How to operate a power drill & impact driver and how to change out bits. - How to use a router. - How to join timber - using glue and a pin gun ensuring to keep edges 'square' & 'flush' You'll use these skills to build your own birdhouse to take home! Please Note: Workshops must meet minimum numbers to go ahead.

Cancellation Policy
At Women’s Shed, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and well-organised environment for all wāhine who participate in our workshops and events. The following terms outline our booking and cancellation conditions. Bookings All bookings must be made through our website or approved booking channels. A booking is confirmed once full payment has been received, unless otherwise stated. Spaces in our workshops are limited to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment. We encourage early booking to avoid disappointment. Cancellations and Refunds We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to balance flexibility for participants with the need to plan and deliver quality programmes. Cancellations made more than seven days prior to the scheduled workshop or event will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within seven days of the workshop or event are non-refundable. Transferring Bookings If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your booking to another person at no additional cost. Please notify us in advance with the name and contact details of the person attending in your place. In some cases, and at our discretion, we may allow a transfer to a future workshop date, depending on availability. Event Changes or Cancellations by Women’s Shed On rare occasions, we may need to reschedule or cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, participants will be offered: A full refund, or The option to transfer to a future session We will communicate any changes as early as possible.
